Some of the career opportunities for musicians today, didn't exist a couple of decades ago. Josh Turner is a great example. If you have not heard of him, then unlike over 500,000 others, you do not subscribe to his YouTube channel and are not likely one of the people who have viewed his videos over 100 million times.
Josh Turner made his first YouTube video in 2007 when he was 15 years old, and both the audio and video quality were absolutely terrible! As time passed, in order to keep up with YouTube's ever-improving quality, Josh had to do something. So he went out and purchased his first ever piece of recording gear in 2009: A Zoom H2.
Three years and many unpopular videos later, Josh used his H2 to record and post "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits. And while Josh’s videos had only been averaging around 100 views, the “Sultans of Swing” video received over 90,000 views overnight. As of the end of 2019, that video have been viewed over 9.6 million times. The results began Josh’s trajectory towards making music a career, and YouTube being a big part of it.
Josh’s professional development continued to grow.
Throughout college his passion for engineering, caused Josh to take it upon himself to push the limits of quality for a two-channel stereo recording, never traveling anywhere without my H2.
Now a professional musician and content creator, Josh continues pushing the limits of quality for a two-channel stereo recording, never traveling anywhere — from lush Hawaiian forests to the streets of Vienna — without Zoom gear at his side.
My Zoom recorders are small and easy to pack, so I take them everywhere I go. There is something about the voicing of the capsules and the preamps that I find exceptionally pleasing."
